Welcome to the Flotilla 8-7, District 8ER Web Site
The mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions, as directed by the United States Coast Guard. We balance our missions in Recreational Boating Safety, Coast Guard Support with Maritime Homeland Security needs and other challenges that emerge. Auxiliary efforts strive to maintain its motto: “A Proud Tradition, A Worthy Mission”.
Coast Guard Auxiliary programs and opportunities:
Vessel Safety Check Program: A no risk, free service for safety minded boaters with boats less than 65 feet in length down to jet skis and paddle craft. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is not law enforcement and therefore does not issue citations or report examination issues that need correction. The Coast Guard Auxiliary VSC is to enable the boater to know they meet area requirements or know what issues need attention/correction.
Boating Safety Education: The Coast Guard Auxiliary provides Instruction in Boating Skills and Seamanship Classes and Boating Safely Classes for recreational boaters of all ages.
Safety Patrols: Coast Guard Auxiliary on the water safety patrols provide information as well as emergency assistance to the boating public on the water. Auxiliary Air Ops provide information and assist in area patrolling.
Support Active-Duty Coast Guard: The Coast Guard Auxiliary augments the Active-Duty Coast Guard in numerous ways. Auxiliarists may participate in most Coast Guard activities excluding law enforcement and hazardous duty. The Auxiliary is truly a force multiplier.
Additional opportunities: Presentations with Coastie the Safety Boat and Public appearances at Boat Shows, Parades and other similar events enable the Auxiliary to promote water safety and awareness to all ages. In addition to all the above items, Members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary have access to additional training and advanced educational opportunities, too numerous to list all. Auxiliary Members can receive advanced training and/or education in Operations, Weather, Navigation, Search & Rescue, and Communications to name a few.Marine Patrols | Boating Safety Classes | Vessel Safety Checks |
